All calculators use the official EU formulas to calculate the energy content:
- Alcohol: 0.789 × 7 kcal per % vol
- Sugar: 4 kcal per gram
- Acidity: 3 kcal per gram
- Polyols: 2.4 kcal per gram
- Conversion factor: 1 kcal = 4.184 kJ
Results are approximate and valid mainly for still wines. For sparkling wines or other special types, consult a professional.
